The Process Of Enrolling In A Muslim School In Australia

Private Islamic schools in Victoria have had the state's highest growth, with enrolment nearly tripling in only eight years. Between 2010 and 2018, enrolment at the nation's 10 Islamic schools increased at a rate that was six times faster than that of public schools as well as nine times faster than that of Catholic schools.

Australian Muslim parents enrolled their kids in Islamic schools in order to uphold their religion and culture. From 2010 and 2018, the number of pupils attending Islamic schools in Victoria increased by 84%, from 6684 at eight different institutions to 12,318 at ten.

Catholic schools and Islamic schools have seen a marked uptick in registrations, however, much of this coincides with an uptick in immigration as well. Islamic schools in Australia stick to the same curriculum and routine as Islamic schools in other locations, for the most part. For lunchtime prayers, all pupils in grades three and up go to the school's mosque.

The annual cost of tuition varies from $3300 for primary school to $4600 for VCE. Although nearly the majority of the pupils at the school are Muslims, it is not a requirement.

Ninety-nine percent of students are from backgrounds where they do not understand English, representing more than forty different nations. The same-sex marriage as well as gender identity were two societal problems that many Muslims had conservative views on.

Islamic schools were expanding quickly, but they continued to make up a very small portion of Australia's school population—just 0.46%. Melbourne is regarded as one of Australia's largest student cities, and Australia ranks as the second most popular place for overseas students.

The national curriculum of the Australian Government incorporates activities in the humanities and social sciences, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as the arts and languages, making the nation a desirable study location.

Enrolling Your Child in a Muslim High School

Children from countries other than Australia continue to be able to go to schools there. But it's important to remember that each student must show proof that they have a valid visa and meet the requirements of that visa. Students with a 500 visa to study can seek to enrol in grades 1 through 12 at educational institutions.

For an application for a visa, you must first obtain and submit the offer letter from the institution. Typically, the requirements from the institution can be located on their website, and any questions can be directed to the admissions office.

Local Muslim Colleges

Although there are many Muslim colleges throughout Australia, they have similar admissions processes. If you’re looking at a particular school for enrolment, you should be able to find much of the information that you need on the Admissions tab of their website.

How to enrol a foreign student in an Australian institution

It is preferable to make inquiries concerning the school(s) directly because enrolment procedures might vary amongst institutions.

Before requesting a visa or enrolling your children in school, you must present the following mandatory documentation to them (and, if applicable, the Australian Department of Home Affairs):Personal information and emergency phone numbers

- An official copy of the certificate of birth or passport, together with information on their visa application and its status (any subsequently occurring changes must be reported to the school).

- Documenting accommodations and welfare

- Vaccination records and health information, if appropriate, from the Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC).

- Announcing that your kid is traveling to Australia for educational purposes and not because of any other purpose, as well as that they won't overstay their visa, an authentic temporary entry statement is required.

- Character criterion, such as a background check by the police

- Verified duplicates of their school records that demonstrate their level of English ability and satisfy the minimal standards established by the educational institution (the most popular test being IELTS)

- Official translations of every supporting document that aren't in English as evidence of enough money.

Keep in mind that these specifications differ across institutions and occasionally by state and area. If English doesn't happen to be your child's native language, you can enroll them in a school-sponsored or private intensive English language program. These can be quite helpful if the student comes from a non-English speaking household or background.

Fees

The cost of attending school for overseas students varies by state and by school. Fees at an Australian private educational institution can range between $20,000 to $40,000 per year, depending on which state the child will attend. In significant locations like Sydney and Melbourne, an exceptional private school might earn more than $50,000 annually.

These do not cover additional expenses for things like textbooks, uniforms, and other things linked to going to school.

On the other hand, the typical overseas student tuition for Year 7 through 10 pupils enrolling into a Victorian public school is $16,769 annually. Application costs, uniform fees, and other non-tuition expenses are also not included in this.

Public schools often cost less than private or catholic institutions. International school tuition is not required of parents who possess a visa that is permanent or a comparable document. The child's parents or legal guardians may apply for enrolment to start either in the current year or the one after.

The Admissions Process

The Admissions process (https://australia.edu/admissions/Undergraduate-admissions/) for Muslim colleges in Australia doesn’t differ very much from the admissions process at non-secular colleges. The process is straightforward, and any questions or concerns can be directed to an admissions officer with the institution.

Interest Expression Form

The following paperwork must be submitted with the "Expression of Interest" form by parents who want to enrol their kids. Original documents are required, including birth certificates for minors, passports, and proof of Australian citizenship.

- A duplicate of the child's most recent scholastic report must be brought by the parents.

- A duplicate of the Naplan reports, if any

- An immunization history statement (required of all primary pupils);

- Order establishing guardianship and custody, if any
